Academy of the Noble Art

Sport, Destination

The Academy of the Noble Art is a new boxing gym in West Wickham, part of a family owned group that also includes 2BX Hayes, Orpington & District ABC and Bromley ABC. The goal was to build a gym that feels like a proper old school boxing club, one with real character, discipline and respect at its core, where hard work is valued and every session has a purpose.

At the same time, the club was designed to be open to everyone. Complete beginners sit alongside experienced boxers, and families, women and children are just as welcome as competitive fighters. The brand had to hold both of those things together: the heritage and old school values of a traditional boxing gym, and a genuine, easy welcome for people who have never boxed before.

We were brought in to deliver the full brand for the club. That started with the visual identity itself, the name, the logo and the overall look and feel, all designed to carry that old school, vintage character through everything the gym does.

From there we carried that identity through to the exterior branding on the building and into a full interior refurbishment, so the moment someone walks in, the space itself tells the story before a single word is spoken.

The club opened with a special event featuring Frank Gilfeather, the Scottish former amateur boxing champion and 80 year old internet sensation. Frank ran a series of one to one sessions along with a special exhibition class open to all members, with the local community invited along too. It was the perfect way to launch the brand, bringing real boxing pedigree and a genuine sense of occasion to a gym built around old school values.
